About Zach: When Zach was 11 months old he was diagnosed with a rare, fatal genetic syndrome called progeria.
Zach was 2 years old in January 2009. Progeria causes accelerated aging in children. Progeria is very rare...there
are only 14 children with progeria in the United States and 48 in the whole world! Children with progeria are born looking
normal, but within the first two years begin to have low weight, prominent veins especially on the head, loss of hair, and
eventually arthritis and heart disease. Despite having progeria, Zach is a very happy boy! He loves to play
with his BIG TRUCKS and cars and he loves to go to school.
